Who doesn’t!
One way or the other,
everyone is involved in the world of cricket. Some likes playing cricket while
others like watching cricket. Started its way from the land of the Monarch rule
to everywhere, from Test matches of 5 days to one day matches (ODI). But today
we see yet another format of cricket which has gained popularity in few years.
You guessed it right, I am talking about Twenty20 (or T20) cricket format which
is the new face of Cricket. From five days’ severe matches to 20 overs, intense
matches. Quite a change!
The game was introduced by
the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county
competition in England and Wales. Together with first-class and List A cricket,
Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the
International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or
domestic level.
Although I do believe, the
true cricket format will always be Test matches, but The t20 format has given
us a new perspective of the cricket and cricketing era.
Twenty20 cricket is
claimed to have resulted in a more athletic and "explosive" form of
cricket. Indian fitness coach Ramji Srinivasan declared in an interview with
the Indian fitness website Takath.com, that Twenty20 had "raised the
bar" in terms of fitness levels for all players, demanding higher levels
of strength, speed, agility and reaction time from all players regardless of
role in the team.
In June 2009, speaking at
the annual Cowdrey Lecture at Lord's, former Australian wicketkeeper Adam
Gilchrist pushed for Twenty20 to be made an Olympic sport. "It
would," he said, "be difficult to see a better, quicker or cheaper
way of spreading the game throughout the world.
The t20 format has given a
new craze of Cricket to the world. Everyone loves it. Although exceptions are
everywhere. Isn’t it?
IPL and CPL were the big
launches in the field of T20. While the latter flourished, the later couldn’t
made it way ahead. But, when it’s time for world cup, I suppose no one would
like to miss it.
The T20 world cup 2016 is
here once again after its first launch in the year 2007. I can’t miss all the hits
and sixes and chase. Don’t forget to tune your TV. The qualifier match is
starting from today. So get seated in front of the TV.
Latest scores and news
will be updated from time to time.
